330,000 tourists visited Israel this past month, an all-time high for October, and a 9% increase over October 2008, Israel’s record tourism year.

The Consolidated State of the Economy Index, compiled by the Bank of Israel, was up sharply in September, jumping 1.2%.
The index is up for the fourth month in a row, and strengthens the sense that the economy reached a positive turning point.

A Nefesh B’Nefesh chartered plane safely delivered 238 new Immigrants from the United States and Canada to the Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday. 89 new immigrants from the U.K. were due to arrive later in the day.

The latest section of Israel’s Highway 6 having been completed, the road now extends from Yokneam (near Haifa) in the north all the way to just north of Beersheva, a total of 87 miles.

On the eve of Independence Day, the Central Bureau of Statistics said the population in Israel has grown by 125,000 people since last Independence Day, bringing the total population in Israel to 7,411,000.
