The Central Bureau of Statistics in Israel, is reporting that apartment prices rose 1.6% in January.

A group of landowners at the southern entrance to the Tel Aviv port are planning a 20-story residential high-rise for the six-dunam site between Hayarkon Street, Yordei Hasira Street, Kaf-Gimmel Street, and the port’s Zion Gate.

Holding their first press Conference, since Ronen Sheetrit acquired the Anglo-Saxon Real Estate franchise from Africa-Israel, Anglo-Saxon CEO Adina Haham said she expects apartment prices and demand to remain stable in 2010.

According to a Ministry of Finance survey on real estate, foreign residents bought 2,800 apartments in Israel in 2009, 13% fewer apartments than in 2008.
The drop was much smaller than the 33% drop between 2008 and 2007 which resulted from the global economic crisis.
